Alex is from South Dublin where he received a degree in Civil Engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Renewable Energy System Technologies. After a short period working as an engineer, Alex progressed to roles as a project manager which ultimately led him to spend several years working on large scale deep retrofit projects for one of the countries major utility providers. It was during this period that he received his SEAI BER assessor certification, qualifying him to carry out BER assessments.

Alex has managed the deep retrofit of over 250 houses across the country on projects of 25 or more houses at a time. These projects were partnered with SEAI and their BEC scheme (Better Energy Communities) and involved upgrading social housing from F and G ratings to B3 or higher. From this experience he learned that there is a lack of public knowledge and understanding about the BER and energy efficiency upgrades. He also understood that there is a shortage of professional services to help homeowners make the right decisions that will help them take control over their energy bills and take advantage of the SEAI grants scheme. So, Green Home Solutions was created with a mission to help contribute to Irelands climate targets by providing BER services for homeowners on their energy efficiency journey.
